Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful therapy that uses the brain body connection to help us process what we have not been able to think our way out of. BSP uses spots in the client’s visual field to help process trauma. It accesses trauma that is held in the subcortical part of the brain, which is the area of the brain that is responsible for memory and emotions as well as regulation. BSP works on the theory that feelings from trauma can become stuck in the body, leading to both physical and mental ailments. It is believed that the brain’s memory of a particular trauma or incident is “reset” in the body and brain through Brainspotting.

BSP is rooted in the truth that the brain knows how to heal itself using the mind body connection as well as the relational aspect of doing this work with a trusted therapist.

Brainspotting is very effective in healing a variety of emotional and somatic conditions, including:

  • PTSD
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • Unresolved trauma / loss
  • Anxiety
  • Panic disorders
  • Stress Management
